AI app aids latino voters in navigating election complexities
A national Latino civic engagement group has launched a bilingual AI app to assist voters in understanding the complexities of the election system, available in both English and Spanish. The app, named Nubi, was introduced last week by Mi Familia en Acción, a group that has been working on this initiative for five years. Nearly 39 million Hispanics are eligible to vote in this year's midterms, and their political loyalties are becoming more uncertain. Nubi provides information on voting, voter registration, citizenship, and Know Your Rights, without relying on open internet searches. Héctor Sánchez Barba, president and CEO of Mi Familia en Acción, emphasized that the app aims to make reliable information accessible without requiring users to be legal experts. The app is part of a broader effort to integrate traditional organizing with technology, as Latino voters are playing an increasingly significant and unpredictable role in American elections.
The goal of Nubi is to simplify the process of finding election-related information by turning a complex search into a conversational experience. Sánchez noted that the app consolidates information into one place, making it easier for voters to understand their rights and responsibilities. This initiative reflects the growing importance of Latino voters in shaping election outcomes, highlighting the need for accessible and accurate information in an increasingly complex political landscape.
