On September 14, 300 mu of high-standard farmland in Yongfeng Village, Meishan City, Sichuan Province, was harvested using an AI model for the first time. This marks a shift from traditional experience-based farming to data-driven decision-making. The AI system, developed by Sichuan Agricultural University, collects data via drones to provide precise recommendations on planting, water and fertilizer regulation, and pest warnings. Local farmer Zhao Youyong noted that the AI system enables targeted handling of pests and diseases, making farming more efficient. A yield test conducted by an expert group from the Sichuan Provincial Science and Technology Department revealed strong performance from three core rice varieties. The super-high-yield indica-japonica hybrid rice 'Shengliangyou 222' achieved an actual yield of 863.6 kilograms per mu, while 'Huazheyous 210' and 'Quanyou 169' reached 826.8 and 858.8 kilograms per mu, respectively. Ma Jun, an expert in rice cultivation at Sichuan Agricultural University, stated that combining quality seeds with AI precision management can significantly increase rice yields, offering a replicable technical path for large-scale improvements. Over 240 new rice varieties also demonstrated good performance in Yongfeng Village this year.
