AI startup HUMXN offers free home services to train AI robots
HUMXN, an AI startup, is offering free plumbing, electrical, and HVAC services to homeowners in exchange for allowing researchers to record technicians' work. The company, based in the U.S., is collaborating with residents to collect real-world data for training AI robots.
Residents in Minneapolis, Chicago, and Miami can access these services if they agree to let researchers film the work. HUMXN founder Thomas Unise explained that the next generation of AI needs to understand how humans interact with the physical world, which requires data from real-world scenarios.
He emphasized that the data collected will help AI models learn the full process of completing tasks, including problem-solving and quality assessment. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between human expertise and AI development, ensuring that those who provide the data benefit economically.
This approach contrasts with other AI labs, which have faced criticism for scraping data without consent. HUMXN’s model offers a new way to generate high-quality, real-world training data for AI systems.
