Ai's role in workforce learning: bridging the gap between knowledge and application
A new report by Preply highlights a growing divide between knowledge acquisition and practical application in the workforce, as AI becomes more integrated into learning.
The report, based on a survey of over 5,000 professionals across nine countries, reveals that while workers are investing more time in learning, many still struggle to apply their skills effectively. Nearly half of respondents maintain a learning routine for months yet report limited progress.
Gen Z, the generation most comfortable with AI, shows the largest Progress Gap, with 71% feeling busy learning without improvement. Preply emphasizes that AI should support, not lead, learning, with 90% of respondents preferring AI as a tool rather than a replacement for human instruction.
The report underscores the need for AI to complement human expertise, combining AI-powered learning with over 150,000 human tutors globally. The key takeaway is that AI has made knowledge abundant, but true progress lies in the ability to apply it effectively in real-world scenarios.
