Amazon introduces new alexa feature to alert users about potential purchases
Amazon has launched a new feature called 'Update Me When' within its Alexa for Shopping AI assistant, designed to send personalized notifications to users when something new or relevant could lead to a purchase.
This feature allows users to track events such as new product launches, TV show releases, concert tours, book releases, and tech product launches. The introduction of 'Update Me When' is part of Amazon's broader AI strategy shift, moving from answering direct product questions to anticipating user purchase triggers.
The feature is one of several AI-powered shopping tools highlighted by Amazon, including price tracking, personalized deals, shopping guides, and AI overviews. While users must currently configure alerts manually, Amazon may introduce automatic alert generation in the future.
The company also demonstrated other capabilities such as building carts from past purchases, tracking pricing history, and transcribing handwritten lists to add items to a cart.
