Amazon seeks to acquire Decart for $7 billion amid failed talks with nvidia and anthropic
Amazon is in advanced talks to acquire Decart, a three-year-old startup specializing in cross-chip compatibility software, for approximately $7 billion. The valuation is 75% higher than Decart’s May 2026 valuation of $4 billion. Previously, NVIDIA and Anthropic had also pursued the company but abandoned negotiations. Decart’s technology enables AI models to run seamlessly across different chip architectures, including NVIDIA GPUs, Google TPUs, and Amazon’s Trainium. AWS had already granted Decart early access to Trainium3 in 2025, aligning their model architecture with Amazon’s hardware.
The acquisition could help Amazon reduce the cost per token of Trainium below NVIDIA’s offerings. Decart also developed real-time world models for immersive experiences and physical AI simulations, adding value for Amazon’s cloud and embodied intelligence ambitions. Analysts caution that the deal’s success depends on Decart’s ability to demonstrate consistent performance across customer models, not just internal systems. Amazon’s high offer signals a strategic move to lock in customers reliant on chip ecosystems.
