Anthropic secures $35 billion cloud deal through nvidia-backed Lambda

Anthropic, an AI company, has signed a $35 billion cloud computing agreement with Lambda, a cloud provider backed by NVIDIA. The deal involves a unique 'subletting' structure where Anthropic accesses computing power from data centers pre-locked by NVIDIA. The data centers, located in Nueces County, Texas, are being developed by Hut 8, a Bitcoin mining company. NVIDIA had already secured a lease with Hut 8 for these facilities. Lambda will deploy NVIDIA chips in the data centers and provide cloud services to Anthropic without bearing initial site costs. Hut 8 is also developing additional data centers for Anthropic, equipped with Google's TPU. Google provided financial guarantees to support Hut 8's funding. Earlier this year, Anthropic signed another $45 billion computing agreement with Nscale, another NVIDIA-backed vendor.
