Anthropic strengthens support for U.S. scientific research with $150m investment
Anthropic has pledged $150 million over three years to support the Genesis Mission, a federal initiative aimed at accelerating scientific and technological discovery through AI. The funding will expand access to Claude, Anthropic's AI model, for over 15 federal agencies, including NASA, the National Institutes of Health, and the National Science Foundation. This commitment was announced at the Science: A New Golden Age Summit in Washington, DC, hosted by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. The company emphasized its alignment with the administration's vision for AI's role in scientific advancement.
In addition to the Genesis Mission investment, Anthropic launched Claude Science, an AI workbench, and opened 10,000 free and discounted Claude seats for academic researchers. The company also expanded its AI for Science program and introduced a research preview of the Model Hardware Standard. Anthropic is investing $100 million in Claude Frontier Academy to train 10,000 engineers by year-end 2027. Barclays is also expanding its collaboration with Anthropic to integrate secure AI systems across its global operations.
