Apple develops AI server using m-series ultra chips

Apple is developing an AI server that will utilize its high-performance M-series Ultra chips, which are already used in Mac desktops. The server, expected to launch in 2029, would be the first Apple server to enter the market in nearly two decades. The project, which reportedly received support from new CEO John Ternus when it began a year ago, comes in two configurations featuring either two or four M8 Ultra chips, according to The Information. The server's development coincides with strong sales of Apple’s Mac mini and Mac Studio, which are increasingly popular among AI developers and companies running AI workloads. The growing demand for these devices, powered by M-series Ultra chips, is believed to have motivated Apple to pursue an enterprise server using the same technology.
