In the first episode of the Power On podcast, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg revealed that Apple's first smart home hub will feature AI facial recognition to identify household members and display personalized content. The device will recognize users and switch to their preferred photos, music, and calendar events. Gurman noted that the hub will not use Face ID, though he did not specify the differences. IT Home previously reported that the hub will have 8GB of memory, run on homeOS, and feature a 6-inch screen, with a release date of October 13. AppleInsider speculated that future smart home cameras may also use this technology to identify users from different locations and trigger recordings based on activity. The hub is expected to launch in October 2026.
