Apple's homeos: a unified platform with siri at its core
On October 2, 2026, 9to5Mac published an article citing sources such as Mark Gurman and @itspdfu, detailing Apple's upcoming homeOS system. The system, which has not yet been officially named, was previously reported by IT Home in June 2025, when Apple registered the homeOS trademark.
The interface of homeOS integrates elements from iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS, including widgets, app designs, and icon styles. The default interface features a slideshow of photos and a clock display, similar to the upcoming iPhone Duo's standby mode. Users can swipe up from the clock or photo interface to access the app launcher.
Siri AI is central to the interaction, enabling users to search for songs, podcasts, notes, calendar events, and photos through voice commands. The system includes built-in apps such as Music, Podcasts, Photos, Weather, FaceTime, Notes, Calendar, Messages, and Reminders.
Unlike traditional systems, homeOS is expected to lack an App Store, though users can bring in third-party widgets from their iPhones.
