Apple's iPhone duo adds AI models for chinese market
Apple's iPhone Duo, the company's first foldable smartphone, has received additional model certification numbers for large AI models, including Apple Intelligence, Tongyi Wanxiang, and Tongyi Qianwen. The Chinese version of the device, model A3721, was granted a trial license on September 2, 2026, and updated on September 29.
The National Internet Information Office announced in July that Apple's 'Apple Intelligence' model was registered on July 8, 2026, for use on Apple devices, signaling potential for AI features to be rolled out in the Chinese market.
Alibaba confirmed that its Qwen model will be integrated into Apple Intelligence, offering Chinese users on iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and visionOS direct access to text and image understanding, and content generation capabilities.
The iPhone Duo will be available for pre-order in China on October 16 and will be sold on October 23, starting at 15,999 yuan.
