Aslan, a startup creating AI agents for national security missions, has raised $20.8 million in funding and is publicly launching today. The company, which offers AI agents to the FBI and intelligence community, enables these agents to operate as analysts in underground criminal forums. Founded last year, Aslan provides a framework for models already used by intelligence and law enforcement to gather digital evidence from criminal forums, Telegram channels, and other spaces. Reid, a company representative, noted that agencies have tested Aslan's products in short trials, focusing on guardrail implementation and data collection processes. Aslan has already been used to map a live smuggling network on the U.S.-Mexico border, uncover a cyber-fraud marketplace evading sanctions, and identify technology transfer networks linking the Chinese government to U.S. AI infrastructure. Reid emphasized that the company will not engage in domestic operations targeting Americans and is currently focused on the U.S. market. The startup plans to use the funding to expand its technical team, including on-site engineers working with law enforcement on specific missions. Reid expects the company to nearly double its headcount by the end of October, from its current 10 employees.
