Atlassian and OpenAI strengthen AI integration in enterprise tools

Atlassian and OpenAI have expanded their partnership to integrate OpenAI's frontier models, including GPT-6 Astra and the GPT-5.6 series, into Atlassian’s platform. This integration aims to enhance AI-driven experiences for teams, enabling them to plan, build, and deliver work more efficiently. The collaboration, which began in 2023, now includes Rovo, a tool that combines OpenAI’s intelligence with Atlassian’s Teamwork Graph, providing AI with a deep understanding of enterprise workflows. The partnership also extends to Atlassian’s plugins powered by the Teamwork Graph, allowing Codex users to access relevant work items and documentation. Over 3,000 developers use Codex across various workflows. Additionally, Atlassian has launched a plugin extension that connects Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket to ChatGPT and Codex, enhancing AI access to project data. The companies are exploring deeper integrations with Jira to improve task assignment, progress tracking, and decision-making processes.
