AWS integrates AI agents to boost efficiency and innovation
Ruba Borno, head of AWS’s Global Specialists and Partners organization, is driving the integration of AI agents to enhance both internal operations and client outcomes. Under her leadership, AWS has transformed its Marketplace engineering team into a unit where human-defined requirements are translated into code by AI, supported by autonomous agents that handle incident triage and fixes without manual intervention. This shift led to an 88% increase in shipping throughput, 21% faster time to production, and over 76% AI-assisted code in production. Borno emphasized the necessity of daily AI integration, stating, 'We must use AI every day in nearly everything we do.'
AWS Partner Central now employs AI agents to qualify sales opportunities, provide tailored guidance, and route deals efficiently, with over 1,000 partners adopting the technology since its launch. AWS Marketplace has also introduced an agent mode that guides customers through offerings and 'express private offers' for personalized pricing. Borno highlighted the importance of contextual data for AI success, advising businesses to focus on specific use cases rather than overhauling entire data systems at once. She also stressed that AI’s true value lies in enabling new work, not just reducing costs.
