Baidu's shen dou outlines path to industrial AI monetization

On September 16, 2026, during the Intelligent Economy Forum in Beijing, Shen Dou, Executive Vice President of Baidu Group and President of Baidu Intelligent Cloud Business Unit, introduced the 'Industrial Intelligent Entity Operating System.' He emphasized that large models are transitioning from technological breakthroughs to economic forces, with industrial intelligent entities acting as a bridge between AI capabilities and macroeconomic growth. Shen Dou noted that while the general office field remains highly competitive, the intelligence of the 'office' scenario is a fundamental atomic-level capability. To integrate into complex production processes across industries, a single general capability is insufficient. He proposed a system of three collaborative intelligent entities: general, specialized, and customized, to provide more robust AI solutions for the real economy. The system aims to support efficient operations of future industrial intelligent entities, enabling deeper AI integration into the real economy through tailored and industry-specific solutions.
