Baidu's vice president wu tian leaves, sources say wenxin model to announce new developments next week
Baidu's vice president and head of its research institute, Wu Tian, has left the company, confirmed by a public relations manager on social media. The company stated that its technological progress continues. A source close to Baidu revealed that the Wenxin model will have new developments announced next week.
The Baidu World 2026 conference is scheduled for November 12, where the Wenxin Unlimited OCR 2 and the latest upgrades to Baidu's 'Xin Yun Model' will be showcased. Wu Tian, who joined Baidu in 2006, was a key figure in the early development of the Wenxin Yiyan model.
In November 2025, she became head of the foundational model research department, which later underwent restructuring, with her moving to the research institute in May 2026.
Baidu recently released and open-sourced the Wenxin Unlimited OCR 2, which significantly improved document parsing capabilities, achieving state-of-the-art performance in benchmark tests.
