Beacon, a company that has acquired over 40 software firms in the past two years, is leveraging artificial intelligence to modernize its portfolio. Founder and CEO Nilam Ganenthiran emphasizes that Beacon's approach aims to provide AI capabilities to Main Street businesses, which are often overlooked by enterprise-focused AI initiatives. Ganenthiran, a former Instacart president, highlights the gap in AI adoption for smaller organizations, stating that they are frequently neglected by major tech companies. Beacon employs an AI rollup strategy, acquiring businesses to enhance their efficiency and profitability through AI integration. The company recently secured a $225 million Series C funding round in June. Beacon's portfolio includes firms like E2E Soccer, PowerUp Sports, and College Kickstart, collectively generating hundreds of millions in annual revenue. Ganenthiran notes that 75% of the portfolio companies are still led by their original founders, with many experiencing growth in head count since acquisition.
