ByteDance delays release of beanpacking 2.2 model
ByteDance has postponed the release of its BeanPacking 2.2 large model, originally scheduled for August 2026. According to insiders, the delay is due to the company's desire to enhance coding, tool usage, and agent capabilities through more extensive pre-training and post-training.
The 2.2 version is seen as a critical reinforcement between two generations of models, as the company cannot wait for the next large model while continuing to iterate the current one. The team aims to position BeanPacking's coding capabilities as a top-tier competitor by year-end, matching the impact of models like GLM-5.2 and Kimi-K3.
ByteDance CEO Zhang Yiming emphasized in a meeting that the company will not rely on AI distillation techniques, while CEO Liang Ruobo reiterated the commitment to self-research and long-term optimization during the annual meeting.
