ByteDance's Volcano Engine has launched an internal test of its AI Copyright Management Platform, marking a strategic shift from copyright protection to commercialization. The platform, set to launch publicly by year-end, enables brand owners and short drama producers to use models like Seedance and Seedream to legally commercialize signed IPs. Copyright holders can monitor and manage transactions in real time through the platform's backend. Yule Capital reported that the platform has already secured dozens of top-tier IPs, including classic films from Stephen Chow's Bigger Group, such as 'The King of Comedy' and 'Big Hero.' The platform offers two licensing models: 'template creation' for consumer-level content and 'free creation' for brand customization. Some B-side projects have reached millions in pricing. By implementing detailed permission levels and revenue-sharing mechanisms, the platform aims to streamline traditional authorization processes and provide incremental revenue for copyright holders in the AI era. The Motion Picture Association praised ByteDance's IP protection efforts, highlighting its technological advancements in copyright defense.
