Changan auto's chief expert tan huan: future of car manufacturing and sales will be led by robots

At the 22nd China Automotive Industry Development (Taida) International Forum on September 18, 2026, Tan Huan, Chief Expert of Changan Auto and General Manager of Changan Tianzhu Intelligent Robotics Company, outlined plans to use robots in car manufacturing, sales, and integration. He emphasized that AI is driving infrastructure changes centered on physical embodied intelligence, envisioning a future where cars evolve into self-learning, self-organizing, and self-evolving 'car robots.' Tan outlined a phased approach, starting with componentization of car parts like the cockpit, dashboard, and armrests, then expanding into intelligent mobility ecosystems covering logistics, cleaning, energy storage, and more. The ultimate goal is to use robots to manufacture other robots, eventually enabling the creation of all things. Robots will be deployed in 4S stores for sales, integrated into vehicles for componentization and intelligence, and used in various sectors like commercial, industrial, and retail environments. Changan Tianzhu Intelligent Robotics Company was established in April 2026 with the aim of reshaping the mobility ecosystem through embodied intelligence.
