China launches nationwide AI literacy training for educators

On October 10, 2026, the Ministry of Education held a conference in Beijing to announce the launch of a nationwide AI literacy training program for teachers. The National Smart Education Platform's Teacher Development Center was upgraded, featuring an AI literacy section with learning resources, tools, and communities to support teacher training. The first session included immersive training for educators, demonstrating how AI can enhance teaching, assessment, and school management. Earlier this year, the Ministry of Education and four other departments mandated integrating AI into teacher certification exams and teacher education programs. By 2030, the goal is to achieve deep integration of AI in education, creating a comprehensive system for AI education across all levels and society, with improved AI talent development and a sustainable literacy program.
