On October 27, 2026, the China Information and Communication Research Institute released the national standard 'Technical Specification for Data Processing Units in Intelligent Computing Clusters,' marking the first such standard in China. The standard outlines technical requirements for DPU use in intelligent computing clusters, applicable to DPU development, deployment, and management in servers and clusters. It provides a unified basis for user selection and product testing.
The standard addresses issues such as heterogeneous vendor solutions, inconsistent performance metrics, and system incompatibility, aiming to shift the industry from single-point competition to standardized collaboration and ecosystem building. Participating companies include China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, ZTE, and others.
According to the National Standards Public Service Platform, additional contributors include Tianyi Cloud, CSIG, Huawei Cloud, and others. The standard is expected to enhance industry alignment and support broader adoption of DPU technology.
