On October 20, 2026, China Telecom's Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (TeleAI) announced the establishment of Gamma Robotics, a new company focused on self-evolving humanoid robots. Registered in Shanghai's Xuhui District, Gamma Robotics is TeleAI's first market-oriented innovation enterprise. The company will collaborate with TeleAI to develop a humanoid robot lab, aiming to convert research into real-world applications. Gamma Robotics is backed by the China Telecom (Shanghai) AI Private Equity Fund, which was jointly established by China Telecom, Shanghai Guotou Pioneer Fund, Central SOE Strategic Emerging Industries Development Fund, and Shanghai Huizhi, a subsidiary of Xuhui District. The fund represents a mix of central government, local state capital, and national strategic emerging industry funds. Leveraging China Telecom's strengths in communication, network, computing power, data, and scenarios, Gamma Robotics will focus on self-evolving and full-body models for humanoid robots. The goal is to enable robots to learn continuously in real-world interactions and develop coordinated mobility, balance, and operation capabilities.
