China unicom's quantum-secure phone 2.0 integrates AI for enhanced security

At the 2026 China Unicom Partners Conference, the company's subsidiary, Zhongxin Institute, unveiled the Quantum-Secure Phone 2.0. This device builds on the first version launched in May 2025, offering enhanced capabilities for high-security sectors like government, finance, and state-owned enterprises. The phone is deeply customized for flagship Chinese smartphones, ensuring full domestication and strengthened system security. The 2.0 model maintains its core components: a government-customized terminal, quantum secure messaging, and a quantum-safe SIM card. It integrates AI-driven security features such as offline risk detection and encrypted voice transcription, while also leveraging cloud-based tools to boost productivity without compromising data privacy. Zhongxin Institute noted that the product is already in widespread use across critical sectors, supporting secure communication and data transfer in key operational contexts.
