China unveils smart subway train with AI capabilities at berlin expo

At the 15th International Railway Technology Exhibition in Berlin, held from September 22 to 25, 2026, a new generation of intelligent subway train developed by China made its global debut. The train, equipped with over 600 sensors, cameras, and radar systems, uses artificial intelligence to monitor its environment and detect anomalies in real time. This marks the first application of 'embodied intelligence' in rail transport, drawing significant attention at the event. The exhibition, attended by over 3,000 companies from 59 countries, showcased 180 global firsts, with more than 200 Chinese firms participating. Additionally, a hydrogen fuel cell hybrid locomotive from China was also displayed, offering a clean energy solution for non-electrified rail lines. The hydrogen-powered locomotive, with a hydrogen utilization rate exceeding 98%, can be refueled in 15 to 20 minutes, providing a sustainable alternative for railway decarbonization. This innovation highlights China's growing influence in the global rail technology sector, as it continues to push the boundaries of smart and eco-friendly transportation solutions.
