China's meteorological bureau advances customized AI weather alert system for egypt
The China Meteorological Bureau announced on September 4, 2026, that the 'Mazu' AI weather alert system, tailored for Egypt, has made significant progress. Key components such as data inventory and integration of Egyptian geographic information systems have been completed. The system is designed to meet Egypt's specific needs, including aviation and tourism weather services. Aviation weather provides comprehensive monitoring and forecasts for airports, while tourism weather includes forecasts for stargazing conditions, sandstorms, and sunrise/sunset times.
Next steps involve further discussions on AI models, such as the AI dust storm module, to enhance data integration and product development. This collaboration aims to improve the country's ability to respond to extreme weather events. Earlier, in July 2025, the 'Mazu' system was introduced at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference, and it is currently being tested in 35 countries and regions worldwide.
