The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has announced a new initiative to expand the procurement of AI services, including large models, intelligent agents, and Token-based solutions. The plan aims to establish a national pool of AI service providers by 2027, with over 3,000 companies in the pool. By the end of 2026, the pool is expected to include more than 2,000 firms. The initiative focuses on enhancing the technical, delivery, and compliance capabilities of AI service providers. Key tasks include building a regional and national resource pool of AI service providers, promoting collaboration through specialized teams, and encouraging the development of standardized AI solutions. The MIIT also plans to support the export of AI projects through international platforms like the Belt and Road Initiative. The ministry will track progress and provide support to regions that demonstrate strong implementation of the initiative. Regions are required to submit their AI service provider data by December 1, 2026, and report on progress by December 1, 2027. The MIIT will establish an online platform to share information and promote best practices among service providers.
