China's Institute of Information and Communications (CAICT) reported that domestic token consumption reached approximately 500 trillion per day in June 2026, nearly four times the level seen in December 2025. The report, published by CAICT, highlights the rapid growth of token services as a key enabler of large model adoption.
It also notes that performance metrics such as TPS and TTFT have improved, though foreign models still outperform domestic ones in some areas. The report covers data from January to August 2026, analyzing performance across multiple platforms and models, including DeepSeek, Qwen, GLM, and Kimi.
Domestic models saw an average TPS increase to 78.23 per second in August 2026, compared to 38.25 in 2025, while foreign models showed similar growth. Prices for domestic models more than doubled this year, reaching an average of 13.46 yuan per token, compared to 6.8 yuan in the second half of 2025.
Context lengths for models also increased significantly, with over 95% now supporting 200K or more tokens.
