Cloudflare integrates OpenAI to enhance vulnerability detection and remediation
Cloudflare has integrated OpenAI’s Daybreak platform with its global network to enhance its Vulnerability Discovery and Remediation service. This early-access offering allows Cloudflare to analyze customer-authorized code, identify potential vulnerabilities, and provide proposed fixes for review. The service combines OpenAI models with live traffic data and security signals to prioritize findings and suggest mitigations. According to Anderson, security teams often struggle with overwhelming data, but Cloudflare’s approach connects code vulnerabilities to real-time production insights, enabling more targeted investigations.
The integration of Codex, another OpenAI tool, has also boosted developer productivity at Cloudflare. Anderson noted that a recent project, which would have taken months and a larger team, was completed in just three days by a team of four developers using Codex. This shift highlights Cloudflare’s effort to embed AI into its engineering processes, treating it as an integral part of development rather than a separate element. The goal is to empower security teams with actionable insights while maintaining customer control over implemented changes.
