Cursor introduces projects feature to streamline large-scale AI development
Cursor, a prominent AI code editor, has launched its Projects feature, a beta version designed to simplify large-scale software development. The new tool enables developers to manage complex tasks by deploying thousands of AI agents simultaneously through a 'coordinator agent.' This system allows for parallel execution of sub-agents, reducing the need for manual oversight.
The Projects feature includes three core capabilities: cloud-based execution with optional local testing, shared system context for synchronized file management, and an intelligent subscription mechanism that monitors Slack, schedules tasks, and tracks Pull Requests. These features enhance efficiency by automming repetitive tasks and improving collaboration.
Cursor's team has tested the feature extensively, applying it to migrations and feature releases involving hundreds of PRs. Test results show a 30% increase in PR merges for new users and a sixfold increase for those relying on Projects. The feature is now in beta and will be gradually rolled out to all users starting today.
