DeepSeek expands API capabilities with web search and scraping features

DeepSeek has announced that its API now supports web search and scraping functionalities, with a pricing model of 5 yuan per 1,000 successful requests. The company stated that users who have been utilizing the API through DeepSeek Harness, Claude Code, or Codex will already be accessing the Search and Fetch interfaces via server-side tools, which are currently free. Starting from 00:00 on November 1, 2026, these interfaces will begin charging per request. The Search interface returns structured results for queries, while the Fetch interface retrieves single web pages in Markdown format. Both are JSON-based APIs with the base URL api.deepseek.com and use the same Bearer authentication as the main DeepSeek API.
