DeepSeek harness introduces creator mode for prompt-based plugin generation

DeepSeek Harness, an open-source harness, has launched a new Creator Mode enabling users to generate software plugins directly from text prompts. Harnesses function by connecting large language models (LLMs) to external tools, allowing AI models to execute actions such as scheduling or making calls, thereby creating functional AI agents. This new feature operates on the philosophy that everything can be a plugin—a piece of software that adds functionality without modifying the core program. In a demonstration, DeepSeek showcased AI-generated plugins including a digital sticky note wall, a poster design tool, and a Minecraft-like video game. While DeepSeek has made the prompts used in the demonstration available in both English and Chinese for public testing, the company cautioned that the final output might vary, noting that some plugins required multiple conversational refinements to achieve the results shown in the video.
