US Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, has raised concerns about a Delaware proposal that would allow AI agents to operate entire businesses. In a letter to Delaware Governor Matt Meyer, Comer warned that the plan could enable human owners to evade legal responsibility for reckless and harmful actions taken by AI. The proposal, which aims to create a new corporate entity called an Artificial Intelligence Company (AIC), is seen as a potential tool for protecting powerful AI firms and their investors from accountability. Comer's letter emphasized fears that the initiative could also facilitate anticompetitive practices and regulatory capture by non-transparent entities. The committee is seeking assistance from the state administration to obtain documents related to the AIC proposal.
