In response to a surge in AI cheating during this summer's exam season, Denmark has introduced an emergency plan to address the issue. The government is implementing measures such as oral exams and computer screen monitoring to deter students from using AI to complete assignments or cheat during tests. Approximately 9,000 students will now face oral exams in addition to written work, while computer screens will be monitored during written exams to restrict access to unauthorized content. The plan also encourages students to complete written assignments in controlled environments.
The Danish government emphasizes that AI should not be entirely banned from schools but rather used more responsibly. Similar efforts are underway in Australia and South Korea, where universities and schools are adjusting assessment methods and banning AI smart glasses during exams to maintain academic integrity.
