Destro ai's AI layer bridges human and robot collaboration in logistics

Destro AI, a startup that emerged from stealth with an $8 million seed round, is redefining robotics deployment by focusing on AI intelligence rather than physical robots. Founder Manthan Pawar emphasized that their approach, which integrates human and robotic workflows, gives them an edge over traditional robotics firms. Yusen Logistics, a South Korean shipping giant, is piloting Destro’s technology in its facilities, using three cart-moving robots and Destro’s Vision operating system. The system directs human workers, carts, and trucks through a centralized Mothership platform, streamlining cross-dock operations. Brunelle, Yusen’s automation director, noted that Destro’s solution was uniquely suited to their needs, unlike other startups that couldn’t adapt to their workflow. Destro plans to scale its pilot to 26 robots in a full deployment and another 17 in Southern California. Investors like Base10 Partners and Bonfire Ventures back the startup, seeing value in its AI-driven workflow optimization. Pawar remains confident in their position within the AI and robotics stack, despite challenges in dexterous tasks.
