Elon Musk announces grok bot will use best available models for user tasks
Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceXAI, announced on October 7 that Grok Bot will no longer rely solely on its own Grok models. Instead, the AI assistant will select the best available models, including Claude Opus 5.5, Midjourney, and Suno, based on the specific task at hand.
The change marks a shift from a model-centric approach to a task-oriented, multi-model architecture. Grok Bot, introduced in August 2026 as a test version, is designed as a persistent AI assistant capable of performing multi-step tasks and interacting with websites and applications.
It operates on a cloud computer with a browser, file system, and terminal, allowing it to continue running even when the user’s device is turned off. Musk emphasized that the system will prioritize delivering the best results for users by dynamically choosing the most suitable backend model.
