Elon Musk renames spacexai to spacexsi amid AI terminology shift
Elon Musk has announced plans to rename SpaceXAI, an AI-focused subsidiary of SpaceX, to SpaceXSI, aligning with President Donald Trump's push to rebrand artificial intelligence as 'supreme intelligence.' Musk shared the decision on X, stating, 'No more AI. SI. It's better,' and confirmed the name change in response to a follower's query.
Trump's executive order, signed on Sept. 29, officially adopted 'super intelligence' as the new term, emphasizing its ability to unlock human creativity and empower Americans. The White House highlighted that the term 'Artificial Intelligence' has been in use since 1955, coined by John McCarthy.
Musk's rebranding follows challenges in renaming Twitter to X, raising questions about the potential success of the 'SI' label. The shift reflects broader efforts to redefine AI terminology, with Trump suggesting alternatives like 'extreme intelligence' and 'superior intelligence' before settling on 'super intelligence.'
