Eugenia kuyda's vision for personal AI assistants takes shape with Wabi launch
Eugenia Kuyda, founder of Replika, launched Wabi, a multiplayer personal AI assistant, on Monday. The platform functions as a messenger app, enabling users to manage multiple agentic threads for different tasks and long-term goals. Kuyda, who previously led Replika, described the launch as an evolution rather than a pivot, noting that Wabi now allows users to build and use custom apps within threads, such as a weight-loss tracker or a children’s event finder.
Wabi’s multi-threaded design differentiates it from competitors like Muse and Instinct, which operate within a single thread. Kuyda emphasized that shared threads can function as group chats, allowing users to collaborate on tasks like planning a concert or tracking a child’s schedule. She highlighted Wabi’s SOC 2 compliance and cloud-based infrastructure, with most user data stored in the U.S. The platform is currently free, with no established business model yet.
Kuyda also mentioned ongoing fundraising talks and her focus on bringing people together through AI, whether for personal or shared goals.
