Face intelligence's MiniCPM series surpasses 50 million downloads globally

Face Intelligence announced that its MiniCPM series of open-source models has reached over 50 million global downloads. The milestone was achieved on the company's fourth anniversary. Founded in August 2022 in Beijing, Face Intelligence originated from the Natural Language Processing Lab at Tsinghua University. The company's co-founders include Li Da Hai, former partner and CTO of Zhihu; Liu Zhi Yuan, current professor at Tsinghua University's Department of Computer Science; and Cao Guoyang, who was a core engineering leader at 22 years old in training China's first large language model, CPM-1. In July, Face Intelligence collaborated with Samsung to integrate its MiniCPM series of edge-side large models into Samsung's Galaxy AI. This marks the first time a domestic edge-side large model has entered the global flagship product line of an international top-tier smartphone manufacturer. Additionally, in July, Face Intelligence and OpenBMB launched the latest edge-side model, MiniCPM5-2B, at the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference. The model was adapted for multiple chips and achieved a score of 17 in the latest Artificial Analysis (AA) benchmark, securing the top position among models with less than 4 billion parameters globally.
