Faraday technology secures major AI chip design deal with samsung's 2nm process

Faraday Technology, a leading chip IP and design services provider, announced in its Q3 2026 financial report that it has secured a significant design project from an American client. The project involves an AI chip tailored for cloud computing, supporting FP64 calculations for high-performance computing tasks. The chip is fabricated using Samsung's 2nm process, with a stacked SoC and custom DRAM design utilizing hybrid bonding technology to support PCIe Gen6. The client initially planned to use 4nm technology but opted for the 2nm solution due to performance and power considerations. Faraday's Q3 2026 consolidated revenue reached NT$36.6 billion, approximately CNY750 million, representing a 13% year-over-year increase and an 11% sequential rise. The company reported a gross margin of 42.5% and an operating margin of 5.8%.
