Figma introduces new tools to enhance AI agent functionality on its platform

The company introduced Figma Specs, a markdown-based editor for defining design languages and integrating with Payload, a headless CMS. Figma also expanded its code layers feature, now in public beta, enabling code generation from designs and prototype iteration. The company emphasized AI’s role in accelerating software development, with its chief design officer noting increased code production without proportional release growth. Figma recently acquired Payload and is integrating it with Figma Make to generate dynamic websites. The company also opened its first India office, highlighting its growing market presence. Figma’s latest updates include support for over 20 new tools, such as Open Code and Sarvam, an Indian AI startup. The company reported a sixfold increase in Payload downloads over the past year. Figma’s expansion in India, its largest market outside the U.S., includes partnerships with 40% of the country’s top 100 BSE-listed companies. These developments underscore Figma’s strategy to enhance AI integration and streamline design workflows for developers and teams.
