Figure unveils helix 2.5 model, enables humanoid robots to perform household tasks autonomously
Figure, a company specializing in humanoid robots, has released the Helix 2.5 model, which allows robots to autonomously perform household tasks. The model was tested in 30 homes in the San Francisco Bay Area without any additional training. The development aimed to answer whether a human-like robot could enter an unfamiliar home and immediately perform tasks. Helix 2.5 was pre-trained on the Index human behavior dataset, enabling it to perform three tasks: tidying the living room, folding towels, and making the bed. The model achieved a 56% success rate, up from 8%, demonstrating improved zero-shot generalization. Figure claims this is the first time full-body intelligence has been shown to transfer from human experience to new scenarios without rebuilding.
The Helix 2.5 model also achieved task generalization across 30 new environments using half the data required by its predecessor, Helix 02. This advancement highlights the potential of leveraging human behavior data to enhance robotic capabilities in real-world settings.
