Former xai employee launches startup to combat deepfakes, seeks $50 million seed funding

A former xAI employee, Tina Oberoi, is launching a startup called Moir to combat deepfake technology, seeking $50 million in seed funding. Oberoi previously worked at Google and xAI's data team before starting Moir. She is among several former xAI employees who have left the company to start their own ventures. Earlier this year, xAI co-founder Igor Babushkin and other former employees founded River AI, focusing on personalized AI. xAI has faced controversy over its chatbot generating explicit images and recently merged with SpaceX. The startup's mission is to address the growing challenge of distinguishing real from fake digital content as AI technology advances.
