On Teachers’ Day, OpenAI launched an AI for Educators course in Brazilian Portuguese on its OpenAI Academy platform, aimed at teachers across all educational levels. It also introduces Study Mode, a feature developed with educators, scientists, and pedagogy experts, designed to encourage active learning through step-by-step exploration, questions, and explanations. Teachers can use Study Mode to assess how AI-generated questions promote reasoning and whether explanations align with their class’s needs. For instance, in a science lesson on evaporation, students might explore why clothes dry on a clothesline, then formulate their own explanations and questions for class discussion. OpenAI encourages educators to experiment with these tools, emphasizing that while technology can enhance learning, it is teachers who shape students’ understanding through thoughtful questioning.
