According to a recent report by Gartner, only 3% of companies have successfully used AI to reduce operational costs and boost productivity. Despite significant investment in AI, many businesses remain unfulfilled in their expectations. TechRadar reported that over three-quarters of business leaders anticipate AI will have a major impact on the tech sector. However, 38% of companies have already exceeded their budgets, while 85% plan to increase AI spending in 2027. CV Viverito, Gartner's Senior Director of Human Resources Business, emphasized that current AI applications are not yet cost-effective. Instead, he highlighted the potential for AI to enable new capabilities, such as redirecting employee time toward innovation and skill development. The report urges companies to focus AI applications on areas with tangible impact, suggesting that both executives and frontline workers should be involved in identifying new use cases and reaping benefits. The report also underscores the importance of widespread AI knowledge within organizations. Gartner recommends fostering a culture where AI is integrated into various business functions, allowing for the discovery of new applications and the realization of improvements. This approach is seen as essential for maximizing the value of AI investments in the coming years.
