Google Cloud and Accenture have formed a joint unit, Accenture Gemini Enterprise Business Group, to deploy engineers into enterprises and assist in adopting Google’s AI tools. This initiative is part of a broader trend among AI firms and hyperscalers, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft, and Amazon, to invest in forward-deployed engineers (FDEs) to drive AI adoption. Google Cloud reported $24.8 billion in Q2 revenue, with enterprise AI contributing significantly, though Alphabet’s purchase commitments reached $811 billion as of June 30. Google plans to train up to 1,000 Accenture FDEs to develop custom AI applications on the Gemini Enterprise platform. August data from Ramp showed Google holds about 6% of U.S. enterprise AI spending, compared to Anthropic’s 43.5% and OpenAI’s 39.7%. Google’s collaboration with Accenture is part of its ongoing expansion of the FDE model, including partnerships with Capgemini, Cognizant, Deloitte, and CVC Capital Partners.
