Google enhances gemini notebook with back-to-school tools and AI learning features

Google has expanded its Gemini Notebook with new back-to-school tools, including lecture recording, interactive learning overviews, and short video summaries. These features are now available on the iOS and Android apps, allowing users to record lectures, generate transcriptions, and store them alongside uploaded materials. The interactive learning overview organizes content into study guides, offering summaries, mind maps, quizzes, and flashcards. The 60-second video summaries explain complex concepts through animations and voiceovers, supporting over 80 languages. The exam preparation tool, launched in September 2025, now includes short answer, multiple-choice, and fill-in-the-blank questions. Users aged 18 and older can interact with the notebook in real-time on mobile devices, with support for nearly 100 languages. Gemini Notebook, previously known as NotebookLM, underwent a brand refresh in July 2026, introducing iOS and Android apps, a secure cloud container, and the ability to write and run code directly in the notebook.
