Google expands AI integration with new connected apps platform

Google has launched a Connected Apps Platform to enable businesses and developers to integrate their services with its AI offerings, including Search and Gemini. The platform, introduced earlier this year, allows users to securely link third-party services like Canva and YouTube Music to perform specific actions. Google aims to attract a wide range of connected apps to shift consumer behavior toward using preferred AI providers. Developers can submit apps through the Google Connected Console, using AppFunctions APIs to integrate with Google’s services. The platform is currently in beta for U.S. developers and will let them track performance metrics and maintain brand identity. Over 50 connected apps are already available in Gemini, with more set to launch on Search. Calm is among the new partners, set to debut on both platforms. Google did not specify when the platform will be broadly available.
