Google has launched its experimental AI application, Dreambeans, in India, its first international market outside the U.S. Available on Android and iOS, the app supports 13 local languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali. Dreambeans generates personalized, illustrated stories using data from connected Google services like Calendar, Gmail, Photos, Search, and YouTube, without needing a specific prompt. Google also integrated its Veo video-generation model to animate images in some narratives. Product Manager Gozde Oznur stated Google chose India due to strong user interest and high overlap across Gemini, Gmail, and Google Photos. However, Oznur noted a current limitation: users can only select one language for the generated stories. In the U.S., Dreambeans reached nearly 55,000 downloads since its June debut, with 63% occurring in September when it opened to all 18+ users. Privacy concerns exist, but Oznur confirmed users can manage connections, delete data, and instruct the app to avoid certain subjects.
